About Us
February, 2005
Terry Kippenberger (Producer and Agent) and his
very able staff at Mainstage Artists Management have been involved
in a great many national tours including over 75 theatrical
productions. Some of these titles include: Funny Girl, Hello, Dolly!, Crazy For You, Moon Over Buffalo starring Gavin MacLeod, The Odd Couple starring Jamie Farr and William Christopher of M*A*S*H, The Goodbye Girl starring Eddie Mekka (Carmine from ³The Laverne & Shirley Show²) Steel Pier, starring Connie Salutos, Meet Me In St. Louis, and Lend Me A Tenor. In cooperation with Troupe America, Inc. Mainstage has also toured original productions of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, Lost Highway: The Music and Legend of Hank Williams, Mahalia, and Ghost Stories (adapted from the works of Stephen King). Other national tours including Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Barnum, Driving Miss Daisy and Steel Magnolias were done in cooperation with Dodger Productions and visited as many as 130 cities throughout the United States and Canada.
In 1978, Terry created the very first national tour of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, which became an annual staple of the Mainstage roster for fifteen years. In 1995, he approached Troupe America, Inc., to co-produce an original musical version of A Christmas Carol based on an idea he had for the show. Together they developed this new production of Dickens’ holiday favorite and will celebrate their 10th anniversary of touring the show throughout the United States and Canada in 2005. In the 2003 season Mainstage introduced a delightful new family holiday show, Mooseltoe: A New Moosical, which features an all Broadway cast, including such voices as Christopher Plummer, Judy Kaye and Karen Mason with narration by Al Roker of the Today Show fame. The Mooseltoe cast recently made their debut on the Today Show and the production continues to charm and entertain audiences of all ages and sells out on a regular basis. The tour of Funny Girl marked the first of many exciting collaborations between Mainstage and Candlewood International, our newest producing partner. That production was followed by The Scarlet Pimpernel, A Wonderful Life, George M!, Crazy For You (Mainstage’s second tour of the show), the 50th anniversary tour of Singin’ In The Rain, and the other wonderful Gershwin tap musical, My One and Only. Next season’s tour of MAME will continue their tradition of providing top quality productions for the touring Broadway musical market.
Two wonderful new projects that the Mainstage team have taken on, include a new touring production of Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts as well as one of the most exciting and significant shows they have ever encountered - PAUL: A Musical Journey, a new multi faceted theatrical concert production. The music of PAUL is infused with styles ranging from gospel, rock, jazz, and pop music and is a story based on the life of the Apostle Paul from just prior to his conversion to his subsequent martyrdom. This is a show that is destined for great things and one which the Mainstage team will nurture every step of the way!
